Four of ours have played state. The other three hundred matter too
Cricket and athletics coaching for eight to eighteen, with a fixture list, a fee written down, and no promise about anybody’s future.
Fourteen seasons
Programmes
Four age groups, two sports, and a fee for each one written on this page.
Cricket · U-10 and U-12
Two evenings a week in the nets plus a Saturday session on the square. At this age almost everything is technique and almost nothing is match play, which parents find slower than they expected and which is the correct order.
Cricket · U-15 and U-18
Three evenings, a Saturday fixture and a winter strength block. This is where selection starts to matter and where we start telling families honestly what we think.
Athletics · all ages
Saturday and Sunday mornings on the track: sprints, middle distance and jumps. Smaller than the cricket side and the reason several children stayed in sport after the cricket did not work out.
The three hundred who do not get selected
Every academy in this city advertises the handful of children who went on to play at a level worth naming, and almost none of them says what the other several hundred got. Ours got a sport they will still be playing at forty, a coach who told them the truth about their bowling, and a season of turning up on Tuesdays whether or not they felt like it. That is the actual product and it is worth paying for on its own terms.
This season
Home fixtures are at the Ring Road ground. Parents are welcome at all of them and there is no charge.
Weekly · nets and track
Fixtures · April
The ground
Two turf nets, a grass square and a six-lane track shared with the school next door.
From parents
They sat us down in the second season and said honestly that state selection was unlikely and here is what he is genuinely good at. Nobody had ever told us anything but what we wanted to hear.
My daughter came to cricket, was not enjoying it, and they moved her to the track rather than keep taking the fee. Three years later it is the thing she organises her week around.
The fees are on the website, the fixtures are on the website, and nobody has ever rung us about an extra camp. After two other academies that is remarkable.
Trials are twice a year and cost nothing
Bring kit and a water bottle. Everybody who attends is told where they stand within a week, including the ones we do not take.
